The Cliffside Tavern, once a place of gathering to many, and home to perhaps more. This great place stood as an Icon to RP in Ayenee, until the great cataclysm that destroyed the paths of that world. A great many who worked there and frequented there were lost in the upheaval.
For over a year, the Tavern has been trying to survive here, its staff watching the empty rooms and hoping for the vibrant patrons which once graced its tables. It has survived, despite odds against it. The feelings that created it pushing it forwards.
It is not just created by the Owner, the Keepers, it is created and maintained by all who come there, it always has been. This is a call to all, Newcomers, returners and those who never left - The Cliffside still stands, as it always shall, come to the forums or come to the chat and let its doors swing wide with the ever entering shadows. If none are around to open the tavern, open the room yourselves and enjoy the RP!
~Well said Tobias, Thank you. Just a foot note, The Cliffside Tavern was thought, seen as a run down building at the top of a set of cliffs the summer of 1997. Ten years its been around. Thats a long time for any gaming realm. Thanks all who made it possible. Sirene/Aliesh

And so the decade came and went...
by Tobias Woulfe posted 11 December 2007 @ 02:12
The fields are overrun with long weeds and the water, like the rest of the area, looks stagnet despite the falls. But lo, there is life here. One need only look. The once infamous Cliffside Tavern went long unused and there were few people to be seen.
The lack of travelers however served other purposes. Over the past decade, up on the cliffs set some distance back so that even the occasional lost soul would miss it, a small keep had been constructed. There only seemed to be 30 or so inhabitants at any one time and they rarely went far; generally only to the archery range which they had taken over the upkeep for that overlooked the falls. The shop which stood on the edge of the now deserted clearing also showed signs of life, or at least of care. The building was still being cared for, though no one seemed to live there. In the spring for one week, light would shine through the windows at night, but otherwise it was as dead as wood that built it. Two other things might provoke interest for strangers or old friends. Part of the great cliff face which once gave the tavern its name had collapsed south of the lake, leaving boulders and a shelf of rock leading to the top. Near the bottom of the landslide, halfway to the lake was an single grave marked with a short pillar of basalt. There was no name however, nor any other markers that might explain it. It simply was. Only one person seemed to visit it, always cloaked and hidden. But that was neither here nor now.

Life returns to a sleeping venue
by Barrak_Draconis posted 02 September 2006 @ 20:24
Damn right... GET THE HELL UP AND SWIM!
If you aren't one of the two people that knows what I'm screaming about, check the Cliffside Tavern's group page. Most notably, the 'about' section, and the 'recent posts' section.
Checking FR every so often, perusing the old forums, laughing at jokes over a year old... reminiscing over an RP thread which formerly kept my attention for five straight hours a night... I saw futility. I saw the impossible. And nothing irritates me more than staring the impossible in the face.
Let's see how long it takes us to get off the "What's Not" list. Consider this a declaration of intent.
Yes, I'm a site-mod. But I'm not about to authorize my own post to go onto the frontpage. All the better for the other higher-ups to notice.
IN CONFRENCE
by Sirene LaShaw posted 19 March 2006 @ 17:10
We play nearly every night.. and people may be courious how to get in at times. If we arent in the room on FR and you see that we are in confrence, then YIM Barrak_Dragon or Lady_Aliesh to get an invite into the Yahoo Confrence. This requires having Yahoo Instant Messanger installed and having at least one name on it.
New Room, open for you to play.
by Sirene LaShaw posted 14 February 2006 @ 13:39
The new chat room allows for complete free form rpg. As a fact, it is called 'Free Form Roleplay Room'. While this room is hosted by the Cliffside Tavern group, it is not necessarly part of the Cliffside Tavern Setting. It's open to all site members and ready to play in.
You make the setting, you play the characters. If there is already a game in play, ask for the setting. It will change each time the room is open.
Have fun.
IC NOTICE FOR CT CHAT ROOM (Stated in room discription)
by Sirene LaShaw posted 11 February 2006 @ 21:38
If you happen to arrive before any employees have opened the tavern, you will find the doors and the windows locked, barring any legal entry.
Cliffside Tavern Rules and Revisements
by Sirene LaShaw posted 30 January 2006 @ 19:13
For many years the primary rules of the Cliffside Tavern have been:
1: Staff only can open the tavern.
2: Everyone is welcomed respectfully, regardless of gaming genre, race, creed, skills, rp experience, perfered rp style and so on.
3. No OOC!
Its time to revise those rules. At long last we are in a place where rules one and three can be more lax because the people on FR are respectful enough to play within those rules and I don't have to sit there with a heavy hand to keep the OOC monkeys at bay. Though, uninterupted rp DOES flow better. The chat options give Barrak and I an opprotunity to monitor the room even if there aren't any employees there.
SO, here are the new rules of the Cliffside:
1. Everyone is welcomed respectfully, regardless of gaming genre, race, creed, skills, rp experience, perfered rp style and so on.
2. Anyone can open the room to start rp.
3. Please play within the boundries of the tavern if you are playing IN the tavern. The area still has much to be explored and can be rped in the cliffside tavern chat room. There is a drink list on the website, in depth discription of the tavern and all its stuff.. everything is there. And yes, much of the rp that happens in the room effects the setting. Pms of major changes are appreciated. www.angelfire.com/rpg2/cliffsidetavern
Oh.. and one other thing. The employees are listed on the 'staff' page. If anyone is stealing, serving themselves, or serving others... and gets caught... they have to pay the price.. but thats all ic stuff and RP opprotunities. Any applications for employment have to go though the owner and manager both. ~grins darkly~
Cliffside Reconstructed
by Barrak_Draconis posted 26 January 2006 @ 14:50
For those of you unaware, or perhaps not following events over by the Cliffs, shame on you. Apart from basic chastizing, there is some news involved herein... the sundered tavern has finally been rebuilt, and is again accepting vic... eh... "patrons".
Don't worry too much about fitting in, just worry about the dragon on the wall.
Building errected and for sale at the cliffside area
by Sirene LaShaw posted 11 December 2005 @ 18:42
At the south end of the clearing sits a building. While for a great deal of time it had only been partially finished, in past weeks a flurry of activity has completed the structure. Anyone caring a
closer look will notices a note nailed to the front door. "Building for Sale. Recently Built. 1,000 gold. Leave note inside if interested."

Silence at the Cliffside area
by Sirene LaShaw posted 08 December 2005 @ 22:03
Looking at the forum posts, it has been silent at the Cliffside area. Nothing could be further than the truth..Is it EVER quite at a construction site? There are people working, people plotting and aliegences made. Well nothing different here. There are any number of people in the area each night doing anything from plotting to working and of course, loitering. New aliegences are being formed and new villans are being introduced all the time.
Concider this your formal invitation to join the room at any time. The current setting is on the intro as you enter the room named Cliffside Tavern Area, and during the winter months (in the northern hemisphere) it is winter time outside.
This is an open chat. You do not have to be a member of the Cliffside Tavern to Join the chat, and if you can't figure out what your character would be doing in the area, then know that the Cliffside area is conviently on trade routes between the realms.
We will see you there!
